Updating your plan (and how often)

Last updated September 20, 2026

Every edit in a plan section recalculates and saves on its own. Checking your balances once a quarter is enough.

We save automatically, a moment after you stop typing, so it doesn't fire on every keystroke. There is a Save button when you would rather not wait, and the page tells you when the save has landed.

A quarter is the right rhythm. Markets move faster than that, but your plan doesn't — and re-reading a new number every week tends to make people act on noise.

Come back sooner when something real changes: a raise, a new account, a move, a change in what you spend, or a decision about when to stop working.

You can record a balance by hand from the Accounts section, including one dated in the past, which is useful if you are entering history you already have. We don't capture balances automatically yet.
