Insurance

Last updated September 19, 2026

Insurance covers term life policies, disability coverage, and a long-term-care policy — mainly relevant to what happens in a survivor scenario or a long-term-care cost window.

A term life policy's coverage amount and pension survivor percentages are what feed the survivor scenario under Compare, for couples — your everyday sustainable-income number always assumes both of you stay alive.

A long-term-care policy's daily benefit offsets the basic long-term-care cost window set up on the Spending section, day for day, if you've turned that assumption on.

Disability coverage is captured as a yes/no checkbox only — no benefit amount is collected, so it isn't modeled in your results yet.

What this doesn't model

  • Disability coverage — captured but not modeled, since no benefit amount is collected.
  • Long-term care in depth beyond a fixed cost window with an insurance offset — no probability of ever needing care is modeled.
