Net worth by account

Last updated September 20, 2026

One real simulated path — the run closest to the median ending balance — stacked by account type, so you can see which money gets used when.

Unlike the percentile chart above it, this follows a single run from today to the end of the plan. That is the point: it is the only view where the year-to-year shape actually happened in one simulation rather than being assembled across thousands.

Which is why the two charts disagree. This path can dip below the percentile chart's median line in one year and recover later. Neither is wrong; they answer different questions.

The toggle switches the returns behind it. Assumed applies one flat rate every year. Monte Carlo replays a real historical sequence, which is bumpier — those swings are market history, not an error.

We leave 529 balances out. That money is earmarked for a specific child's education, not household net worth.
